Made a series of updates per BOA's request:
1) fixed php warning problem [ the cause was usage for a function had changed
when php was upgraded ]
2) added export
3) fixed highlighting issue which sometimes used to display broken html


Note: I created copies of files and made changes, then copied the original
files to have extension '-old-05112024'.  then i renamed the updated copies
back to the original filenames.
